DESCRIPTION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP: ESSAY

The Hoàng Lý Tập Scholarship Fund will award $500 scholarship to graduating high school students who maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA, and have significant financial need.

Học bổng Hoàng Lý Tập sẽ trao 1 học bổng $500 cho sinh viên đã tốt nghiệp trung học duy trì điểm trung bình tối thiểu 3.0 và có nhu cầu tài chính đáng kể.

Eligibility Criteria

Application Requirements

Applicants will be evaluated by their scholastic achievements, leadership qualities, community involvement, and writing proficiency.

  • Student of Vietnamese descent who is residing in the Greater Houston Metropolitan area and graduating from an accredited high school or secondary school from June 2018-2023.

  • Enroll as full-time undergraduate studies in an accredited college, university, or an institution of higher learning in the United States from 2018-2023.

  • Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

    • Scholastic 30%

    • Leadership 10%

    • Essay 10%

    • Financial Need 50%

  • Complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form

  • Submit 2 portrait pictures to be used in LD camp booklet should you be selected for a scholarship (jpeg or png)

  • Submit a CV

  • Read and follow the guidelines for writing and submitting your essay

  • Choose one of the following themes for your essay: 

    • What is TIMwork (teamwork) and why does it matter? 

    • Why do you care about Vietnamese culture?

    • Bạn nghĩ sao về câu nói, “Tiếng Việt còn, người Việt còn” hoặc câu ca dao “1 cây làm chẳng nên non, 3 cây chụm lại nên hòn núi cao”.

Award

Upon completing all the application requirements, submit all documents as individual attachments in one (1) email to lenduongcamp@vcsa.org with subject heading: “Your Name – LDC2023 HLT Scholarship.”

  • Applicants for scholarships are evaluated for leadership potential. Other important factors include career goals and social awareness

  • Scholarship applications will be judged by LD Alumni with extensive experience in LD programs

  • $500 USD. This is a scholarship presented at Len Duong Camp and will be paid directly to an individual winner.
